She first shot into limelight in 2007, when she participated in Idols West Africa competition, finishing second after Timi Dakolo. Since then, she never looked back as she made adequate use of the platform created by that event. In 2008, she launched her first single “In The Music”. In 2009, her effort was recognised by Hip Hop World Awards as she carted away two awards that year, ‘Best Female Vocal’ and ‘Next Rated’ which came with a car reward.

A law graduate of Ambrose Alli University. Omawumi Boma Megbele is an interviewer’s delight, charming everyone who came her way. Very articulate with a huge sense of humour, she would spice her words with pigin English spoken with all the nuances anybody from the Warri area of Delta state would. Being Street-wise, she says, is her survival strategy and it endears people to her, making her believable and reachable.
